WE ARE ESSENTIAL SERVICES: OPEN FOR ONSITE ACU, CHIRO, FST, MASSAGE & PHYSIO
The heart of the physiotherapy profession ... is understanding how and why movement and function take place. Physiotherapists are highly skilled and autonomous health professionals who provide safe, quality client-centered physiotherapy through a commitment to service availability, accessibility and excellence. The profession is shaped by scientific evidence and the education and competencies of the physiotherapists delivering the services. Physiotherapy is grounded in the belief that, to be effective, its services must respond to the changing needs of populations and our health system. A physiotherapist’s practice may involve clients of all ages in a variety of settings providing health services in many contexts from wellness, health promotion and prevention, acute care and rehabilitation, to disability and disease management. Physiotherapy is a primary care, autonomous, client-focused health profession dedicated to improving quality of life by:
Physiotherapy is anchored in movement sciences and aims to enhance or restore function of multiple body systems. The profession is committed to health, lifestyle and quality of life. At MCA Wellness Clinic our physiotherapist’s goal is to alleviate pain, optimize functional mobility and aid patients in returning to their prior activity level. Physiotherapy services at this clinic include but are not limited to:
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy. Although pelvic dysfunction predominantly affects females, up to 16% of males suffer as well. Symptoms include pelvic pain, pressure, pain during sex, incontinence, incomplete emptying, and visible organ protrusion. Tissues surrounding the pelvic organs may have increased or decreased sensitivity or irritation resulting in pelvic pain.
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction can be caused by:
1. HYPOTONICITY (Weak pelvic floor muscles): contributing to stress incontinence, urge incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Incontinence is NOT a normal part of aging
2. HYPERTONICITY (Tight pelvic floor muscles): contributing to Urinary and Fecal Urgency, Urge Incontinence, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Dyspareunia, Vaginismus, Vulvodynia, Pudendal Neuralgia, Interstitial Cystitis and Chronic Prostatitis
Care plans will aim at strengthening, stretching and coordination of muscle activation to name a few. Your assessment and treatment may require an internal exam but this is optional. Your pelvic floor physiotherapist will discuss your options with you as it pertains to your specific case.
